What is the TSCB?

The Tameside Safeguarding Children Board (TSCB) is a partnership of agencies that works closely within the wider context of the arrangements in Tameside (for example, the Tameside Children's Trust) that aim to improve the overall well-being of all children. It's particular focus is on the "Staying Safe" outcome, one of the 5 outcomes for children that has been set by the government’s policy Every Child Matters.

The Children Act 2004 placed a statutory duty on Local Authorities to establish a Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) by April 2006. In 2005 Tameside LSCB (known as TSCB) was set up. The TSCB brings together local agencies that have a shared responsibility for promoting the well-being and ensuring the safety of children in Tameside. The TSCB agrees how different services and professional groups should co-operate to safeguard children and for making sure that arrangements work effectively to bring about good outcomes for children.

The national context of safeguarding, including policy and practice resources

Tameside Safeguarding Children Board is the local arrangement and carries out its work in the context of policies and resources published and produced by a range of national agencies, including the Department for Education (DfE).

To find out more about these national policies and resources go to the Safeguarding Library on the TSCB website.

The local context of the Children's Trust

Tameside Children’s Trust’s shared vision is for all children and young people to aim high and realise their ambitions with the support of their families and communities, putting children and young people at the centre, enabling them to have choices, equal life chances and a voice in shaping their future. The Children’s Trust will also ensure that parents and carers are listened to and their views acted upon, whilst, at the same time, ensuring services are fit for purpose.

Tameside Children's Trust publishes the Children and Young People Plan 2010-13 which provides the strategic framework for all services working with children and families in Tameside.
