Where are services delivered?

The services are delivered on the hospital site and both the maternity and paediatric services have community based staff to ensure that users of the service can be provided with care by a core staff group in their own home when appropriate. A community paediatric medical team is based in Hyde and provides a health service for children and families who have ongoing needs, children looked after by the local authority and for adopting families.

The majority of services are delivered following referral from another source. This can be from the school nurse / health visitor / GP or from departments within the hospital such as the antenatal clinic and the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department.

Women and Children’s services are provided by a range of health staff. These include doctors, nurses, midwifes, support workers, administrative staff, play therapy staff and newborn hearing screeners.

In addition to the staff already in post during 2009 there have been some major changes to how safeguarding services are delivered in the hospital. A new safeguarding nurse and a safeguarding midwife are employed with some administrative support to raise the profile of the need for better safeguarding processes and training delivery. Tameside Third Sector Coalition (T3SC)

     - Who are we and what we do

Tameside Third Sector Coalition (T3SC) is a registered charity which supports all voluntary, community and faith groups in Tameside. T3SC’s mission is to build and support strong, clear and independent voluntary and community action in Tameside. We do this by developing and sustaining the capacity and accountability of individuals and groups, and of the sector as a whole.

T3SC provide information, training and support to help groups and organisations run themselves and provide quality services. An important part of this is to help groups adjust to changing trends and policies (like changes in safeguarding children)

We celebrate and promote the massive contribution that the voluntary and community sector make. We publicise and showcase the work of groups in Tameside through articles in our quarterly Newsletter and monthly E-Bulletin.

We bring similar groups and people together in networks to influence decisions for the benefit of Tameside communities.

Tameside’s Funky Lizard Network

There are over 800 voluntary and community groups and organisations in Tameside. Over 200 of these groups work with families, children and young people and they have an opportunity to come together within the Tameside Funky Lizard network, supported by T3SC. Through the network, T3SC supports representation at both Tameside’s Children’s Trust and the Tameside Safeguarding Children Board and ensure that groups/organisations are able to provide safe services and increase their awareness of when people need additional support.

Find out all about us here; Families, children and young people network - Funky Lizard

Most recently we have been working with the Safe Network to bring groups and organisations an easy checklist that they can follow, with guidance as to where to get support around all safeguarding issues.
