Does your work bring you into direct contact with children, young people and/or adult family members? Then this training is essential.

This E Learning package is ideal for practitioners and those that require a basic awareness of child protection matters, from statutory, voluntary, private and independent agencies.

What is E learning?

It is a flexible way of providing basic child protection training and online assessment via the internet. The training is hosted by Virtual College, one of the UK's leading e-learning sites.

What does the E-Learning Cover?

  • An understanding of the various types of abuse or deliberate harm to a child.
  • How to identify the signs of abuse and what to look for.
  • Knowledge of how to ask questions if you suspect a child is being abused
  • What steps you can take if you suspect abuse is happening
  • What happens after a referral to Children's Social Care
  • What to do if a child or adult discloses abuse
  • An understanding of the importance of keeping records
  • What to do if you suspect abuse or deliberate harm to a child

How long does the E-Learning package take?

You should work at your own pace but, as a guide, it should take you approximately 3 hours to complete the training.

You can do the course in short sessions if you would prefer.

How does the E-Learning package work?

There are 150 interactive learning screens, learner challenges, tracking and online assessment.

What do I do next?

  • Apply for the training by completing the on-line application form via the link below. 
  • You must have authorisation to apply from the training from your manager or Head of Organisation before you complete the form
  • Wait for your E Learning username and password to arrive by email (this could take up to 4 weeks)
  • Visit the Virtual College website http://safeguardingchildren.vc-tms.co.uk/ 
  • Enter your username and password
  • Start the course
