Tameside Safeguarding Children Partnership

Welcome to the website of Tameside Safeguarding Children Partnership. We want to make sure that children and young people that are in Tameside are protected from abuse, neglect and feel safe and cared for.

Tameside Map

We all share responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, whether as a parent, carer or family member, a friend or neighbour, an employer, or as a paid or volunteer worker.

This website has been developed to offer up to date and accessible information about safeguarding children and young people and we hope you find it useful.

If you require further information about TSCP, or would like to give us your views or feedback on this website, please contact us.

Safeguarding during the coronavirus pandemic

TSCP would like to remind you that safeguarding remains a priority and if you have any concerns we advise you to follow the appropriate process as normal.

  • For early help and support you can ring the Early Help Access Point on 0161 342 4260.
  • For safeguarding and child protection concerns you should ring the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub on 0161 342 4101 or, if outside of normal working hours, 0161 342 2222.

Additional support is available to families who are struggling to cope and existing support is being offered in different ways to protect and safeguard the most vulnerable.

  • Mental Health Support
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Coping with Babies Crying
  • Accessing Health Services

A fact sheet 'Safeguarding Information for Volunteers' is available for all volunteers that will be supporting some of our most vulnerable residents during this time.

Due to the Coronavirus we have decided to suspend all multi-agency safeguarding training courses until mid-June. A range of e-learning courses are available to help ensure those supporting children and families have a basic awareness of some of the most important issues.

For all the latest advice on coronavirus please use the government website at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

About Us

Tameside Safeguarding Children Partnership is responsible for making sure that children and young people are kept safe in Tameside.

Safeguarding Partnership arrangments for Tameside
The newly created Tameside Safeguarding Children Partnership are pleased and excited to publish their multi-agency safeguarding arrangements. The new partnership includes Tameside MBC, Greater Manchester Police, Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group and Education as well as a wide range of other partners. Together they are responsible for making sure that children of all ages and abilities get the help and protection that they need in Tameside. The Tameside Safeguarding Children Arrangements outline how the partnership will achieve that aim.

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group have reviewed and updated their responsibilities to put in place arrangements to review the death of a child. Tameside child death review partners in partnership with Stockport and Trafford child death review partners form the Stockport, Tameside and Trafford Child Death Overview Panel and arrangements are published here.

Voice of a Child

Tameside Youth Council has consulted with a wide range of young people and developed a ‘Voice of a Child Strategy’.

Voice of a child strategy
The Strategy is for anyone in Tameside who works with children and young people and all of our partner agencies have signed up to it. It aims to improve the participation of children and young people and sets out a series of pledges and expectations that all practitioners and managers should work to when working with children, or when commissioning or managing a service.

Smarter, Stronger, Sooner, Safer Strategic Framework

“Successful Families in Tameside - Smarter, Stronger, Sooner, Safer” is based on Tameside Council and NHS Tameside and Glossop CCG’s Corporate Plan principle of “starting well” – ensuring that every child is given the care and attention they need to thrive and develop. It refreshes the Early Help Strategy for 2020-22, building on the work that has been undertaken since 2017 to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families by resolving issues as soon as possible.

Tameside Multi-Agency Neglect Strategy

Tameside Multi-agency neflect strategy
In recent years, there has been an increased awareness of child neglect and the harmful effect on children brought up in neglectful environments. Neglect is a significant factor in many Serious Case Reviews (60%) and is one of the most common reasons for children to be made subject to a Child Protection Plan.
