Management of Allegations

Tania Brown is the Safeguarding Advisor (Local Authority Designated Officer) for Tameside. It is her duty to oversee investigations into allegations of child abuse and inappropriate behaviour by people working with children and young people.

The LADO works closely with employers to offer advice and guidance on the management of allegations. Where there is cause to suspect that a child is suffering or is likely to suffer significant harm, or that a criminal offence might have taken place, the LADO will liaise with Children’s Social Care and/or the Police to ensure that that information sharing is appropriately co-ordinated.

The LADO chairs inter-agency Professional Abuse Strategy Meetings on behalf of Tameside Safeguarding Children Board and is available for advice and consultation.

What to do if you are worried about a child

If you think a child is being abused or mistreated or you have concerns about a child’s well-being please contact one of the numbers shown on this page.

Your phone call could help to safeguard a child who may be at risk.

If the situation is immediately dangerous for the child then ring 999 and ask for the Police.
