This course is aimed at Multi-Agency Practitioners, advanced /Senior Practitioners, first and middle tier managers, Designated or named Safeguarding leads,whose role brings them into contact with children and their families.

Course Aim:-

Raise professional awareness in relation to the use of legislation,procedures and national referral mechanism associated with Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking and Child Sexual exploitation,which will maximise opportunities to safeguard and promote the continued wellbeing of children and young people.

By the end of the course participants will be able to:-

Recall what constitutes Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking

Recognise the benefits of using trafficking legislation & associated procedures as tools for safeguarding children.

Identify child victims of trafficking & Slavery

Know how to submit high quality referrals to the National Mechanism ensuring the best possible outcome for children & young people.

Understand the requirement to notify the Home Office when dealing with child victims of human trafficking.

Summarise the role of "Independant Child Trafficking Advocates "& know how to secure their services.

Understand the council of Europe Convention Against Human Trafficking.

The course will be delivered by Mike Hand, formerly of the Serious Organised Crime Agency & UK Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Centre.

TSCB minimum standards for basic single agency safeguarding children awareness raising training are designed to assure that relevant training across all agencies and services in Tameside is delivered to a consistently high standard. They will be utilised by the Learning Improvement and Activity Sub- Group to quality assure relevant training. It should be noted that basic single agency awareness training should not be utilised to negate the requirement for professionals or volunteers in Tameside, whose work brings them into with children and their families, from acquiring or refreshing their Multi-Agency safeguarding knowledge via TSCB’s Multi-Agency Training Offer.
