Early Help Assessment

Tameside has updated the old CAF (Common Assessment Framework) to a new Early Help Assessment. The assessment is aligned to the Signs of Safety approach and has been co-designed with a range of partners so that it’s more user friendly, both for the families and for the practitioners.

New tools and guidance can be found on the Local Assessment and Guidance page of our website. Early Help (previously CAF) Advisors are still on hand to provide support.

Neglect Strategy

Tameside Safeguarding Children Partnership (TSCP) have recently revised their Neglect Strategy, which will formally be launched at a Multi-Agency Event taking place between 9am and 12 noon Wednesday 5th February 2020 in Jubilee Hall, Dukinfield Town Hall, King Street, Dukinfield SK16 4LA.

The event is targeted at Multi-Agency ‘Safeguarding Leads’, and senior members of staff with lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection and as such have key roles in promoting good professional practice throughout their organisation and setting.

The expectation is that Safeguarding Leads will prioritise for attendance at the ‘Launch Event’ in order to widely promote the strategy and principles therein. They will need to book onto the event via their TSCP individual learner account on the Partnership’s website: www.tamesidesafeguardingchildren.org.uk.

Learning from Case Reviews

Tameside Safeguarding Children Partnership is undertaking several case reviews at the moment and there is lots of learning coming out of them. We’ve produced a 7 minute briefing for professionals to discuss within their team meetings and decide what they might need to change in their day to day practice. 7 minute briefing are available for A19 which considers our early help response to mental health issues and for Child Y that looks at the support that we provide to children that are looked after by the Local Authority but placed with their parent/s.

Greater Manchester Safeguarding Procedures

Please remember to refer back to the GM Safeguarding Procedures whenever you’re dealing with a particular safeguarding issue and you’re not quite sure of the correct process. There’s a vast range of policies and procedures that are regularly updated so it’s a really valuable source of reference that everyone should be using.
